Overview

There’s nowhere quite like this visually stunning shrine to late Philly artist Ellen Powell Tiberino, whose style of sculpture and mural is showcased throughout the museum named after her.

Tiberino is perhaps best known for her large scale paintings, three-dimensional murals, sculptures and large-scale paintings that depict African American history and experience.

She exhibited widely during her prolific career in Philadelphia and beyond, and her drawings and paintings are held the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Established in 1999, the Ellen Powell Tiberino Memorial Museum of Contemporary Art includes many of her works, as well as those by her talented family members and friends. After Ellen and her husband Joseph passed, their adult children continued their traditions, working in ceramics, stained glass, murals and figures.

Currently, the museum is open by appointment only.

Don’t Miss

In the summer months, the museum offers Sunday afternoon painting sessions for artists of all skill levels. Guests are required to bring their own art materials.
